Select The Year Of Your Vehicle Below

At first glance, it's hard to pin down the highly recognizable Buick Skylark. After all, the car had six production runs across 46 years, and its design varied according to tech, taste, and standards changes. No matter its iteration, however, it would live up many times to its namesake bird's symbolism: that of spirit and spiritedness.

Its history is a testament to such persistence. In 1953, Buick Skylark was top of the line, a convertible based on the model 76R Roadmaster. In 1961, it would get coupe, station wagon, and two-door hardtop variants. By 1962, Motor Trend would name it Car of the Year. The 1963 Buick Skylark Special saw a sedan body style added, and by 1964, a four-door hardtop would join it. A Gran Sport option became available in the middle of 1965, but by 1968, we'd see big changes, most notably the use of two different wheelbase sizes. By 1975, Buick would take a turn toward compact car segment, offering Skylark as a two-door hatchback. It'd be refined over the years until 1998, when its whirlwind tour ended. Buick wouldn't produce another compact car until 2012, namely, Buick Verano.

Over six generations, the Buick Skylark featured four- and six-cylinder engines that mated to both manual and automatic transmissions. The final generation models came with anti-lock brakes, dual airbags, air conditioning, AM/FM stereo, and intermittent wipers. Available options included 15-inch aluminum wheels, CD player, leather seating, and power mirrors.
